Onam get together at Arun's new home with Manhattan friends

That is where we had our Onam get-together and this is the notepad where I had noted Arun's(MA) address.
Arun recently purchased his new home and invited over a few of his malayalee family friends to his home.
That is what defined our Onam this year.
An email thread allotted parts of the Onasadhya to each of the families. Jacob Baby had to pull out as his
daughter was unwell. Siju and Anoop took over the last minute additional responsibilities. Anoop who stays the
farthest arrived last and soon after that we arranged seating in a 3-6-3 format on the floor.
As planned, everyone was in traditional kerala attire - the wives in white kerala sari and the husbands and the
two bachelors Brijesh and Lijo in white mundu.Plantain leaf, traditional seating on the floor, twenty plus kinds of curries
  - the kerala experience was complete.
Siju had even video-graphed the onam feast live!  There were so many choices that the sides occupied two lines
on the plantain leaf leaving just enough space for the rice. By the time we had three choices of payasams, we were all pretty tired.
Then our hosts Arun and Jyotsna showed us around the new house - a nice comfortable house. Everyone was still
reeling from the heavy food and we rested in the sofas and watched a new Malayalam movie 'Honey Bee'.
Anoop broke the movie by announcing that they have to go to church. Everyone collected back their curry vessels
and packed to go back. Conversations went on for some more time and soon the cars dispersed to the respective homes.
It was not just a sweet little meeting. It is a very significant one as Onam is quite apart in the US and it was indeed great to
be able to meet so many people together and really have a bash - thanks to Arun for the hosting and initiative from Arun/Anoop/Siju etc.
