Lijo(Divya's friend) and friend had visited our home last weekend from South Carolina.They had left us the Atlanta City Pass as they were going back anyway. FernBank is the only place left off from our earlier Atlanta Pass visits.
A museum as it was, we were not particularly excited about the visit anyway and reached the museum after 2 PM, exactly after the Cartoon Network event that we hoped Niya could see closed. To make up for the disappointment, one of the organizers complemented my Barcelona T Shirt and expressed solidarity.
The museum was a natural history museum with stuffed animals, reminded me of the drudgery I had felt when I had visited the natural history museum in New York years back. So we just walked through the way you read your engineering textbooks.
At 3PM , there was a special event - scoop about poop , the #1 show about #2 it seems. It is less crass than it appears as it targets the kids. There was a video of a crane that for courtship , picks a throw around dry buffalo dung cakes.Well , this was nothing to postpone our lunch for.
With a very boring first half, we hungrily grabbed the cheese pizza / hot dog / chips etc. We were looking forward to more boredom . Our only hope was the iMax film scheduled at 5PM. However , the next section was a good piece of entertainment for Niya. An activity center with various things for kids to try out - slide down through a hammock net , a miniature hanging bridge , crawl throughs etc. Niya had a great time here and we also saw the trip as fruitful after this section.
To The Arctic

But the winner of the day was the iMax film 'To The Arctic'. With the excellent sound system , the mammoth screens , the spell binding natural beauty of the arctic , truthful sincere content in the movie , and the kind of human content that Iranian movies give. Nature and it's ways. On one side, you have human beings induced global warming leading to male polar bears looking to kill and eat polar bear cubs for food and on the other hand, you have mother polar bear who is ready to have herself killed to prevent her cubs from being eaten. This way, nature ensures that life has a drive to further.
This was presented in real as the movie showed the male polar bear stalking and closing in on the mother polar bear.When the male bear was real close , the mother turned back and gnarled.
'You can have the cubs if you want but you will have to kill me first'.
